Sankofa is a sacred ancestral term from the Akan people of Ghana, West Africa. The Sankofa symbol represents the wisdom of learning from the past, to help improve the future. We should reach back and gather all aspects of our past, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward.

THE CREATOR
Habari Yako friends! Thanks for taking time to visit my little corner of the universe! Let me share with you how I started this fulfilling journey. This is my story.

Do you all remember home economics? I first started crocheting when I was in the 7th grade in home economics class. During high school and college, I took a long pause from crocheting to commit to other school activities. I did not pick up a hook for years!

Fast-forward to 2003, I became an analytical chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. As we know, life bring us challenges, joys, experiences with all the ups and downs. I needed to find a way to reduce stress - my well-being was at risk. One evening coming home from work, I remembered I really enjoyed crocheting!
In 2015, I picked up some yarn, a crochet hook, and my fingers naturally flowed with the rhythmic motion of crocheting. At this moment, I returned SANKOFA, and found my craft to be incredibly satisfying. Crocheting also became the path of learning my African roots. I found myself grabbing my hook, yarn and my AirPods, creating - while listening to our great African scholars. The wisdom of Dr John Henrick Clarke, Francis Crest Welsing, Joseph Ben Yachanan, and Dr Ray Hagins, gave me focus and clarity on my purpose. At this point in my development, I have learned so much about the ancient African culture, my beliefs, as well as reflecting on my past, present and future!
My desire is that you feel the peace and love in every stitch of my creations. Be well and live - in the spirit of SANKOFA.
